Calcium and your Skin – Thoughts for Summertime Sun Exposure

As most people know vitamin D is produced by exposure to the sun.  This happens by ultraviolet rays from the sun converting skin oil to vitamin D.  Vitamin D picks up calcium from the gut and puts it in your blood.

So with the fear of skin cancer and still wanting to have enough vitamin D what is one to do?

Well people who are in the sun a lot get thick skin if they do not get enough vitamin F, which is primarily in oils.  They get hives and sunstroke.  Sunstroke involves high blood calcium levels with low tissue calcium levels.  And excess vitamin D from exposure to the sun is known to cause cancer.  Vitamin F or polyunsaturated fatty acids takes calcium from the blood and puts it in the tissues.

Articles come out telling you to avoid the sun.  Well it is only dangerous to people who do not have vitamin F in their bodies.

Cataplex F, which is made by Standard Process, is a source of essential polyunsaturated fatty acids which are used to transport calcium from blood to tissues.  It contains linolenic, linoleic, and arachidonic acids.

You can enjoy the sun and get the benefits of vitamin D.  The trick is to make sure you have proper tissue calcium levels.  If you are going to get a lot of sun exposure make sure you are getting enough polyunsaturated fatty acids in your diet.  If you are not sure,  Cataplex  F from Standard Process will help keep your calcium tissue levels at a proper level so you can enjoy the sun and reduce your risk of sun related maladies.
